Financial Simulations — Learn by Doing

Make money decisions in safe scenarios before they cost you in real life

Finance is decisions, not formulas

Nobody learns to swim by reading a textbook. Finance works the same way: you can read about mortgages or diversification, but until you make at least one real decision, theory stays theory.

Simulations in Monetika give you a safe environment to make financial decisions, see their consequences, and learn from your mistakes — without paying in real BYN.

What's inside the scenarios

First salary. You land your first serious paycheck of 2,000 BYN. What do you do in month one? Rent a flat or stay with parents? Open a savings deposit or splurge on a holiday? Every decision shapes your financial position a year out.

Buying a flat in Minsk. Is 30% enough for a down payment? Fixed or floating mortgage rate? Two-bedroom in a residential area or studio near the centre? The scenario models 20 years forward.

Losing your job. You've been let go. How many months can your savings cover? Which expenses do you cut first? Do you take a side job outside your field? The simulation walks through different strategies.

Building an investment portfolio. You're 25 with 5,000 BYN to invest. All into one index fund? Spread across foreign-currency deposits? Buy gold? The simulator runs the variants 10 years out across different market scenarios.

Going self-employed. Should you leave salaried work for freelancing? What taxes will you owe? How much for the social fund and income tax? What cushion do you need to make the jump?

How it works

  1. Pick a scenario from the catalog.
  2. Get starting conditions — age, income, savings, goals.
  3. At each step, choose from 2–4 options.
  4. The simulator models consequences over months and years.
  5. At the end you see the final picture and a comparison with alternative paths.

Why this matters

— Take the fear out of complex decisions. Run the mortgage scenario once and the real conversation at the bank stops being intimidating. — See the consequences of impulse decisions. "What if I take a car loan?" — now you can find out. — Prepare for life milestones. Graduation, moving, having a child, retirement — each milestone has its own financial scenario. — Learn without risk. A mistake in a simulation costs zero BYN. A mistake in life can cost years of work.

FAQ

Is this a game or serious learning?

Both. The scenarios are built on real financial models and calculations, but the interface is gamified — choices, consequences, progress. The key outcome: after playing through, you carry a realistic mental model of how financial decisions get made.

Are the calculations based on real Belarus data?

Yes. Minsk apartment prices, mortgage rates, social fund contributions, average industry salaries, taxes — everything is calibrated to current Belarusian reality. Exchange rates use current National Bank of Belarus quotes.

Can I replay a scenario?

Of course. In fact, you should. Different runs let you test different strategies and compare outcomes.

Are scenarios updated?

Yes. Rates, prices, and tax rules are refreshed quarterly. New scenarios are added regularly — the 2026 roadmap includes 12 new scenes.

Can I plug in my own numbers?

In Pro, yes. You can substitute your real income, savings, and goals, and the scenario will run on your figures. Free uses preset profiles.

Does this give a certificate?

Completing scenarios earns XP and achievements inside the platform. Certificates are awarded for completing full courses; simulations are a practical module within them.
